I Quit

When the blood hits my head
When my last drop dries
When hope lays barren
I quit

When my fate plays the dice
When my life sings the requiem
When death deceives
I quit

When the game defeats me
When life kills me
When victory alludes me
I quit

When the finish is blurred
When the end is near
When the writers shapen the plume to write my history
I quit
When fame is near
When fate play dear
At the threshold of applause
I quit

When talent multiplies
Copious
A streak of the unique
I quit

A last call
A last hope
A last farewell
I quit

And here I stand
To be jibed
Here I am to be mocked
Here I am to be detested

When every finger in the crowd
Knows not the pain
When every eye in the mob
Knows not the tear

And every tongue that abuses
Knows not the thirst
And every word that mocks
Knows not the shock

When all I am granted is hostility
When all my actions are cowardice
When skies sneer at me
I brave my chest to say
I quit
